About the trail
The South Ural Trail links the mountain country of Bashkortostan and Chelyabinsk Oblast in the southern Urals. Its main branch runs from the Bannoe resort to Lake Turgoyak, past the jagged Inzer Zubchatki, the Iremel natural park and the Zigalga, Zyuratkul and Taganay national parks.
The project describes a trail of about a thousand kilometres with side branches such as the West Gate, the Yurmaty Way and the Burzyan branch, while the 500 km main branch is the one walked non-stop. Rais Gabitov is named as the founder, and volunteer keepers look after individual branches.
According to the trail's website, walkers often split the main branch into three parts of a week each or walk shorter sections over weekends.
Trails it meets
No source gives the days on foot, so they are worked out from the length at 20–25 km a day.
