About the trail
The route crosses gritstone moorland, limestone dales and the high fells of the Yorkshire Dales and North Pennines, then follows Hadrian's Wall before climbing into the Cheviot Hills. Peat bog and exposed ridges make it a navigation challenge in poor weather.
