About the trail

The trail follows, in part, the road Paul the Apostle is thought to have taken on his first journey through Asia Minor, climbing from the Mediterranean coast to the lakes of the interior. It was waymarked in 2004 by Kate Clow, who had earlier set up the Lycian Way, and links Roman roads, forest tracks and village paths.

There are two starting branches, from Perge and from Aspendos, which meet in the mountains. Further north the route follows the shore of Lake Eğirdir before ending at the ruins of Antioch in Pisidia outside Yalvaç.

It is rougher and much less walked than the Lycian Way, with long climbs, high passes and simple village accommodation. Spring and autumn are the recommended seasons.
