About the trail

The Israel National Trail runs for about 1,100 km through the length of the country, from Kibbutz Dan in the north to the Eilat Field School of the Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel on the Red Sea. It was inaugurated by the society in 1995 and passes through the Galilee and the Carmel, along the Mediterranean coast and across the wilderness of the Negev and the Eilat Mountains.

The society, known as SPNI, created the trail and holds its name as a registered trademark. In 2015 its youth volunteers set out to walk the whole route over three months to record it for Google Street View, in a project announced by Israel's Ministry of Tourism.

No source gives the days on foot, so they are worked out from the length at 20–25 km a day.
