About the trail
The Great Divide Trail begins in Waterton Lakes National Park at the border between Canada and the United States, where it meets the Continental Divide Trail, and runs north for 1,095 km to Kakwa Provincial Park. It follows the divide between Alberta and British Columbia through the high country of the Canadian Rockies and crosses it no fewer than 30 times.
The trail is supported by the Great Divide Trail Association, a Canadian not-for-profit organisation and registered charity based in Calgary. Because its southern end meets the northern end of the Continental Divide Trail, the two can be walked as one route from the Mexican border into northern British Columbia.
Trails it meets
