About the trail
The Cooloola Great Walk runs through the Cooloola Recreation Area, which lies between the coastal towns of Tewantin, near Noosa, and Rainbow Beach in south-east Queensland. Over a distance of up to 102 km it passes rainforest, tall eucalypt forest, dry coastal woodland and heath plains, with sweeping views of the Cooloola coastline.
Walkers stay at four walkers' camps, Brahminy, Dutgee, Litoria and Kauri, which are booked through the Queensland national parks booking service. The walk has a seasonal closure from 1 December 2026 to 28 February 2027, and the park asks everyone to read the Cooloola conditions report before setting out.
No source gives the days on foot, so they are worked out from the length at 20–25 km a day.
