About the trail
Hinchinbrook Island lies off the coast of tropical north Queensland, and the Thorsborne Trail follows its eastern side for 32 km one way, from Ramsay Bay in the north to George Point in the south. Queensland's national parks service describes it as a renowned multi-day trail that explores sweeping bays and deserted beaches.
The walk is graded difficult and takes about four days. Permits for each year are released in advance, the park warns of crocodiles and marine stingers, and it flags challenging seasonal conditions from October to March; at George Point the toilet and sign have been removed because of erosion.
