About the trail
The path passes steaming vents, black obsidian fields, snowfields and glacial rivers before ending in a birch-scrub valley between three glaciers. Huts along the way are run by the Icelandic Touring Association, and the trail is only passable in summer.
The huts open from around 25 June to 15 September.
